The Fairtrade mark and information

To be more accountable to the wider Yoga community for our social, environmental and economic impact we intend to supply predominantly fairtrade and environmentally sustainable goods and services. We also wish to share our values which include a commitment to trading with poorer communities in developing countries.

To this end, we have dveloped a system we call the Y-FACTOR™

We wish to to raise awareness of the value and benefits of practicing Yoga whilst also helping to promote a more sustainable supply chain.

The products we promote may fall into four main categories:-

• Unknown - products originating from manufacturers that are not independantly screened on specific environmental or ethical criteria
• Tested - products may carry some form of professional standard from the manufacturer as to their environmental performance, (e.g. Organic, No harmful substances etc.)
• Sourced as Fair trade or Fairly traded - products may have been produced using Fairtrade priniples, (e.g. as to workers rights, conditions, environmental performance etc.) but have not been officially certified by the Fairtrade Foundation
• Fairtrade (certified) - contracts to producers cover the costs of sustainable production and living, investment in development and allow for long-term planning and sustainable production practices

Please note: not all the products listed on our Web sites have been certified by the Fairtrade Foundation

The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as an independent guarantee that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal. For a product to display the FAIRTRADE Mark it must meet international Fairtrade standards. So, for products originating in developed regions, (eg. Europe, North America etc.) the FAIRTRADE Mark does not apply.
